Southern Train conductors set to strike tomorrow, 26 April

Travelling by train to Gatwick tomorrow? Then be aware that members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union will stage a 24-hour strike from 11am, 26 April.

This is the first of three one-day strikes called in response to Govia Thameslink Railway’s decision to introduce Driver Only Operation (DOO) on all Southern trains, which the union says threatens jobs, conditions and public safety.

Although the strike will affect Southern train services, Gatwick Express and Thameslink services are expected to be extremely busy and may not stop at all normal destinations.

Two other 24-hour strikes are planned for the same time on 10 and 12 May.
