Severe reduction in Gatwick Express services

If you thought train services to Gatwick couldn’t get any worse, think again.

The London to Brighton train service is notorious for delays, but the latest plans to deal with the increasing number of passengers using the route could, according to the Independent, see air travellers in danger of missing their flights.

In the latest plans, the number of Gatwick Express will be halved and some other rail services will be delayed. The result? 38 fewer Gatwick Express services and 13,000 fewer seats a day on London to Gatwick services.

Don’t forget, if you’re planning to travel to Gatwick by train this Christmas, rail engineering works mean there will be no direct trains from London and no Gatwick Express services from Christmas Eve until 4 January.

Journey times to the airport will take around 90 minutes.
