Rail strike set to affect travel to Gatwick this week

UPDATE: the proposed strike action has been called off.

Proposed industrial action by the RMT Union is set to cause disruption to rail services to and from Gatwick this week and next.

A 24-hour strike is set to start at 17:00 on Thursday 4 June and end at 16:59 on Friday 5 June.

A 48-hour strike is expected to start at 17:00 on Tuesday 9 June, finishing at 16:59 on Thursday 11 June.

There will also be an overtime ban from 00:01 on Saturday 6 June until Friday 12 June.

It is unclear what services will run, however, Network Rail is still in talks with the RMT to avert industrial action.

If the strikes do go ahead, expect trains that do run to be extremely busy, and also heavy traffic on the roads to Gatwick as travellers make alternative travel arrangements.
