Slight rise in December passenger numbers at Gatwick

Figures just released by Gatwick Airport show that the airport handled 2,280,400 passengers in December, up 0.2% when compared with December 2011.

Contributing to the increase were an increase in load factors, up 1.7% to 78.3%, an increase of 1.3% in domestic traffic, a 1.7% increase in European charter and a 6.2% increase in other long-haul passengers.

Topping the list of popular destinations in December was Geneva, followed by Edinburgh and Dubai.

Overall, in 2012 passenger numbers reached more than 34,2 million, up 1.7% when compared to 2011.

  1. Geneva? That’s a surprising top destination, I’d have expected another northern British destination or perhaps somewhere in the States to feature.
