Record-breaking month for Gatwick

Gatwick had its busiest month ever last month when it saw almost 4.4 million passengers pass through its two terminals.

A total of 4,362,600 passengers passed through the airport in August – an increase of 8.2% on August 2013, and an extra 330,300 passengers.

In addition to the record-breaking passenger numbers, Gatwick also broke its own world record for the most number of air traffic movements in one day on a single runway – the airport handled 906 movements on 29 August.

In a rolling 12-month period (September ’13 to August ’14), passenger numbers stand at 37,257,000 – 6.4% more than the previous 12-months.
