Record-breaking month for Gatwick

Gatwick Airport has, once again, seen a record-breaking month for passenger numbers.

A total of 2.5 million passengers passed through the airport last month, 5.7% more than the previous year – an extra 135,417 passengers.

Strong growth on routes to Ireland (up 14.3%), scheduled European services (up 7.4%), north Atlantic routes, (up 7.4%) and other long-haul flights (up 6.5%), made January the airport’s busiest ever January.

In a rolling 12-month period (February 2015 – January 2016), passenger numbers topped the 40.4-million mark, 5.6% more than the previous 12-month period.
