November passenger numbers up 4.2% at Gatwick

Gatwick Airport saw a 4.2% increase in passenger numbers in November when compared to November 2011.

The 4.2% increase – 89,000 extra passengers – has been partly attributed to the timing of the school half-term holiday.

With load factors remaining high at 80.8%, the airport saw an increase of 11% in long-haul passengers, a 7.5% increase in UK & Channel Island passengers, while passengers on European charter and European scheduled increased by 3.9% and 2.8% respectively. Passenger numbers on North Atlantic routes and Irish routes fell by 5.1% and 3.2% respectively.

In a rolling 12-month period (December 2011 to November 2012), passenger numbers stand at 34.2 million, up 2.8% on the previous 12-month period.
