Increase in complaints about aircraft noise

There has been a significant rise in complaints about aircraft noise in the Imberhorne area, Thisissussex reports.

Complaints are up by around 500 percent in the last four months as residents report that planes, believed to be easyJet’s, are flying at the edge of the Gatwick’s Noise Preferential Route. One resident told the paper that the flights start flying over the area at about 5.30am.

The issue of noise was also discussed East Grinstead Town Council public services meeting last week.

A spokesman for the airport told the paper: “In November last year, a major airline took the decision to route a majority of its aircraft over a different part of the Noise Preferential Route than it previously had flown, and this may be the reason why residents in that area may have experienced an increase in flights.”
