Gatwick’s sees record-breaking February

Gatwick saw its busiest ever February last month as 2.7 million passengers passed through the airport – a 9% increase on February 2015 – marking 36 months of consecutive passenger growth.

Contributing to the increased numbers was a 22% rise in travelers on North Atlantic routes, a 21.6% increase in passengers to Ireland, while European scheduled and other long-haul routes saw rises of 11.5% and 7.8% respectively.

Air transport movements were also up by .9%, although cargo was down by 12.2% (metric tonnes).

In a rolling 12-month period (March 2015 – February 2016), passenger numbers were up by 5.7% to 40.6 million, compared to the previous 12-month period (March 2014 – February 2015).
