Gatwick to Hong Kong flights announced

Cathay Pacific 747-8f air to air

After weeks of speculation, Cathay Pacific has announced the introduction of its Gatwick to Hong Kong service.

Subject to government approval, the airline will launch a four-times-weekly service (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) on 2 September 2016 using a brand new Airbus A350-900 aircraft in a three-class configuration: Business, Premium Economy and Economy.

The new Gatwick service will complement the airline’s five-times-daily service from Heathrow Airport, and see Cathay operate a total of 39 flights a week between Hong Kong and London

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Ivan Chu said: “Cathay Pacific has been serving London for 35 years and our commitment to the UK market is very strong. We are delighted to launch a non-stop service to Gatwick, using our new state-of-the-art A350 aircraft, which will help meet increasing demand for both business and leisure travel between the Asia Pacific region and the UK. These additional flights to London will provide our passengers with greater choice and flexibility and, at the same time, continue to boost Hong Kong’s standing as an international aviation hub.”
