Gatwick sees busiest October ever

Gatwick Airport is heading towards two years of consecutive growth after figures just released show passenger numbers were up by 7.8% last month compared with October 2013.

More than 3.3 million passengers passed through the airport in October, an increase of 241,600 people, making October the 20th month of consecutive growth for Gatwick.

Contributing to the growth was a 17.5% increase in North Atlantic passengers, a 11.3% increase in other long haul and a 9.9% increase in European scheduled passengers.

In a rolling 12-month period (November 2013 – October 2014), passenger numbers were up 7.2% compared to the previous 12 months, while air transport movements were up 4.4%. Cargo (metric tonnes), however, was down by 10.9% on the previous 12 months

Gatwick will surely expect the continued increase in passengers to assist it in its campaign to build a second runway.
