Gatwick is the European aiport with the most new long-haul destinations

Business is booming at Gatwick Airport. Not only has the airport seen more than 41 million passengers pass through its terminals in the last 12 months, the airport has been officially recognised by anna.aero as the ‘European airport with the most new long-haul routes’.

Anna.aero compared long-haul destinations at several airports in August 2015 with those due to operate in August 2016 and found that Gatwick topped the list with 11 new routes launched in the last 12 months.

The new services are:

  1. Boston, USA  –  Norwegian Airlines
  2. Cayo Coco, Cuba  –  Thomas Cook Airlines
  3. Chongqing, China – Tianjin Airlines
  4. Edmonton – WestJet
  5. Holguin, Cuba  – Thomas Cook Airlines
  6. Lima, Peru  – British Airways
  7. Liberia, Costa Rica, Thomson Airways
  8. San Francisco Oakland, USA  – Norwegian Airlines
  9. San Jose, Costa Rica  – British Airways
  10. Winnipeg, Canada – WestJet
  11. Varadero, Cuba – Thomson Airways
