Air Berlin’s Gatwick flights take off

Air Berlin has today launched its new services between Gatwick and Hanover and Nuremberg.

The first flights touched down early this morning at Gatwick; the start of the twice-daily services to each destination.

Stewart Wingate, Gatwick Airport’s Chief Executive said:  “We are absolutely delighted to welcome airberlin to Gatwick and offer our passengers new routes into two of Germany’s great cities.

“We are transforming Gatwick with a £1 billion investment programme that will modernise the facilities, improve customer service and bolster the public transport links into London, to make Gatwick London’s airport of choice.  Today’s news demonstrates we are making headway in achieving that vision. This is the first step in a long-term relationship with airberlin, which we hope will generate further destinations not currently served by Gatwick and open up more choice for our passengers.”

To celebrate the launch an oompah band, the Bavarian Strollers’, were at Victoria Station, on the Gatwick Express and at Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal playing a selection of German tunes and well-known classics.

  1. Oh, finally they did it. I thought it would never happen. Gatwick airport is very convenient to me, but I was not able to use it until now. It offers a lot of services which save a lot of time to the traveler. I’m glad that Airberlin will land at Gatwick.
